Gini Sisila – Fire Dancing
Gini Sisila, meaning "cooling of the fire," is a captivating
traditional Sri Lankan fire dance that originates from the Low Country
regions of the island. This stunning performance merges intricate fire
manipulation with rhythmic dance movements, demonstrating the dancers'
mystical control over fire. Often showcased at significant cultural
events such as the Kandy Esala Perahera, the dance features performers
wielding fire torches, manipulating flames, and even swallowing fire,
