Peg Doll Painting Workshop
The Peg Doll Painting Workshop offers a hands-on experience where
participants can design and paint wooden peg dolls inspired by the
coastal culture and folklore of Negombo, Sri Lanka. This workshop
combines creativity and storytelling, allowing participants to craft
peg dolls that capture elements of Sri Lanka’s fishing heritage and
vibrant local narratives. Guided by experienced artisans, participants
will learn various painting techniques and cultural motifs, creating a
unique keepsake that reflects the spirit of Negombo’s fishing
community.
This two-hour workshop includes an introduction to the cultural
significance of peg dolls, focusing on their role in storytelling and
as symbols of heritage. Each participant will transform their doll
into a colorful representation of local legends, fishermen, or scenes
of coastal life. The experience concludes with a community sharing
session, where participants display their creations and discuss the
